Summerlin and West Las Vegas, Close to Home

Summerlin stretches across 22,500 acres on the western edge of the valley, out to Red Rock Canyon. Most of Summerlin sits inside the City of Las Vegas. Summerlin South is unincorporated Clark County. The villages range from Sun City Summerlin, a large 55-plus community, to young family neighborhoods out west and the shops and ballpark of Downtown Summerlin. The Lakes and Desert Shores border Summerlin on the east.

Summerlin has no psychiatric hospital of its own. The closest inpatient care sits a short drive east along Sahara Avenue and Spring Mountain Road. This guide covers those, plus the veterans, grief, and senior support Summerlin families ask about most.

This guide lists places open to anyone. We leave out private practices. Nobody pays to appear on this page.

Therapy, Psychiatry, or Psychological Testing: Which Fits You?

Therapy and Counseling

Talk sessions with a licensed therapist, such as an LCPC, LMFT, LCSW, or psychologist. Therapy helps with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, OCD, and relationship stress. Most people in Summerlin meet with a therapist once a week, in person or by Nevada telehealth.

Psychiatry and Medication Management

A psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner diagnoses mental health conditions and prescribes medication. Follow-up visits check how your medication works and adjust the dose. Psychiatric providers also oversee treatments such as Spravato for depression when two or more antidepressants haven't helped.

Psychological Evaluations and Testing

A psychologist uses interviews and standardized tests to answer a specific question, such as ADHD, autism, a learning difference, or memory changes. You leave with a written report and treatment recommendations.

Not sure where to start? Start with a therapist. A good therapist tells you when a psychiatry visit or testing makes sense.
